Hello, in this post I will talk about a free topic: travelers. 

But not just about ordinary travelers, but rather about a series of the same name found in netflix. 

Travelers is a science fiction serie created by Brad Wright and is about a post-apocalyptic future, the travelers have their consciousnesses sent back in time and trasnferred into the body of present-day individuals who would otherwise be moment from death. Now, the traveler using social media an all the information about the guest, he has to follow his normal life while perfoming missions to avoid the discouraging futur from which it comes.

This week I saw two seasons (OMG) and I'm waiting for the third season that opens on December 13. I'm very enthusiastic because the end of the second season was incredible. 

Now, you will wonder what missions I'm talking about. For these travelers is necesary follow the grand plan, that is organized by "the director", one virtual mind that has organized a plan to save the world. 

Another important thing to note is the great perfomance that is in this series of Canadian origin, an issue that in Chile is very difficult to achieve today (have you seen "La Reina de Franklin"? Come On!) 

I like the series because they distract you and you insert yourself into a fictional world with a lot of emotion and adventure.

Post Graduate Studies.

There are many things I could do to specialize. For example, I think of courses that teach new research methodologies associated with social networks, the internet and big data. I would like these topics because it is the path I am following in sociology, and I think it has a lot of potential.

Now, to study this kind of things at least here in Chile or in Latin America is not very fruitful. I know that in England and the United States it is where the courses are more complete. However, the implications of going to study are several: money, time, change of plans, family, etc. It is a decision that has to be well thought out.

In this sense, I believe that distance courses are a good tool but living the experience of traveling to another place and studying right there can be more enriching. In addition, I think that the constant of having to travel to other countries gives a lot to think about the academic offer that our country and the other countries of the continent provide for their professionals. How to think about development if we do not invest in science? (for example, the problems with CONICYT).

Anyway you have to be honest, there are courses here in Chile and programs at universities that provide tools in regards to the new research methodologies associated with big data, perhaps to begin with they are a good tool (but as long as there is money , let's not forget that in Chile studying is very expensive).

My future job

Hello Everyone, this week I talk about my future job, related with my career: sociology. 

In the sociology, I work in very places: the government, ONG's, foundations, research, academy... well, it's said that a sociologist goes through all these works, but I'm not so sure that I want to work in some. 

For now, I'm only sure that I'm well managed with the information gathering techniques (which are then used to investigate). In this regard, I believe that it could be part of the revolution of the new information technology that is recently integrated into sociology (at least in this university). For example, one new information technology is a virtual social networks (facebook, twitter, instagram, etc.). Can you imagine all the information contained in these virtual platforms?

In that way, maybe I work indoors, I'm very comfortable with this, because I don't like travel very much in small time. Then, probably I will not travel very much, although every can travel for congress or something in the same line. 

Sociologist have a salary very relative and I know that since the beginning, then probably I have no choice but to do many works. 

Now, I'm interested in a mixture of themes: climates of opinion, social networks, influence of tradicional media and White Collar Crime. As I said in the previous post, after going through many topics in which people usually specialize, I come to these and are currently the ones I'm addressing in my thesis. 

In the future, I will study about more information gatherin techniques and the use in the sociology or other disciplines.
